There are some great dog parks and off-leash areas for our furry friends to enjoy in the Sutherland Shire. We’ve listed the best spots below. Why not take the time this weekend to explore one you haven’t visited before?
#1 – Carina Bay Reserve
Tivoli Esplanade, Como. Dogs are allowed off-leash with no time restrictions.
The beautiful Carina Bay Reserve is our favourite dog park. Plenty of open space, with shaded areas and some seating. There’s also taps and a bubbler.
It’s worth noting there’s no fencing around this dog park so some caution should be taken.
#2 – Silver Beach
Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell. Dogs are allowed off-leash with no time restrictions.
Does your pooch love swimming? Dogs are allowed to enjoy a swim and run on the beach between the third and fourth rock groynes (to the right of the boat ramp).
Amenities and water bubblers can be found across the road at the park.
#3 – Heathcote Oval
134R Wilson Parade, Heathcote. Dogs are allowed off-leash between 7.15am and 10.30pm.
This is the newest dog park in the Shire, with play equipment, walking path, seating, shade and water bubblers.
This park is fully fenced.
#4 – The Ridge
Recreation Drive, Barden Ridge. Dogs are allowed off-leash between 7.00am and Sunset.
If you have a fur baby who likes to run, this is the park for you! There’s a large open grass perfect for a game of fetch or some zoomies.
Just watch our for the natural hazards like snakes, ticks and spiders, particularly in the warmer months, as the park is surrounded by bushland.
#5 – Greenhills Beach
2 Mitchell Rd, Cronulla. Dogs are allowed off-leash between 3pm and 10am (non-daylight savings time) or between 4pm and 10am (daylight savings time).

#6 – Horderns Beach
Horderns Lane, Bundeena. From September to April dogs are allowed off-leash Monday-Friday between 4.30pm and 8.30am. From May to August dogs are allowed off-leash without restriction.
Another beautiful beach to enjoy with your fur baby, a trip out to Bundeena never disappoints!
#7 – Helena Street
Helena Street, Kirrawee. Dogs are allowed off-leash between 4.30am and 10.30pm.
This dog park is fully fenced and split into two sections. There are some shady areas and water bubblers available.
