Caringbah is one of the largest suburbs in the Sutherland Shire, with over 12,000 residents. It is a great suburb for singles, couples and families alike, with something for everyone. The name Caringbah was used from 1911, when steam strains started to run in the area.\u00a0<\/p>

Caringbah once referred to most of the land between Sutherland and Cronulla. It was used as a place for orchards and market gardening right up to the mid 1940\u2019s.\u00a0 Today, Caringbah is one of the central hubs within the Sutherland Shire. It is a real mix of residential areas and businesses and has major arterial roads and intersections running through it. It is also where you will find the area\u2019s Public Hospital, Sutherland Hospital, Ambulance Station, Kareena Private Hospital and many specialist medical offices. There are a variety of housing options in Caringbah. Located around the commercial areas you will find a lot of development has occurred, with many large apartment blocks. The further you move away from the shops and businesses the more you will find townhouses, duplexes and freestanding houses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

One of the largest commercial areas surrounds Taren Point Road in Caringbah. Stores include Bunnings, Petbarn, Dulux, Nick Scali, Freedom, JB Hi Fi, Harvey Norman and many, many more. This area also has a great deal of industrial factories as well; electrical, building, mechanical, manufacturing, food processing as well as dance and fitness studios can all be found here. Another large commercial area can be found around the Caringbah train station, where there are supermarkets, cafes, florists, chemists, hairdressers and a wide variety of retail stores.\u00a0 Caringbah is home to a number of schools; Caringbah North Public School and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School are for students in kindergarten through to year 6.\u00a0<\/p>

There are two selective high schools in the area; Caringbah Selective High School which is the only academically selective school in the Sutherland Shire, and Endeavor Sports High School which runs special sports programs for athletically skilled students. Public transport is widely available in Caringbah. The train station is on the Illawarra \/ Cronulla line with frequent trains to Cronulla and to Miranda and beyond. There is also a regular bus service. One of the most popular spots in Caringbah is the Camellia Gardens. As the name suggests, this council run park is home to one of the largest collections of camellias found in Australia. Visitors enjoy the beautiful gardens with many winding footpaths to explore. It\u2019s also a great spot to picnic, enjoy high tea at the cafe or to even hold a wedding ceremony.<\/p>

For sports fans there are a few local teams to join or cheer on; the Caringbah Sports Cricket Club who often play on the Glen McGrath Oval, the Caringbah Redbacks Football Club who play on the North Caringbah Oval and the Cronulla Caringbah Sharks JRLFC who play at the closeby fields at Greenhills Beach.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
